“Our confidence in him i not wavering one bit,” Packer HC Matt LaFleur on QB Jordan Love and Recent Struggle

After starting the season 2-1 in their first three games of the post-Aaron Rodgers era, the Green Bay Packers seemed like they were in good hands with third-year signal-caller Jordan Love under center as the team’s quarterback of the future. The Packers have lost three straight games since and Love has struggled in the process.

Despite the recent struggles, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur sees no reason to worry or panic about the young quarterback and his role as the heir to Rodgers’ throne.

“Our confidence in him is not wavering one bit,” said LaFleur in his postgame comments following the Packers’ loss to the Denver Broncos.

Love and the Packers offense struggled mightily in the Week 7 loss to the Broncos, failing to score a point in the first half. He made a strong second-half effort to try and help the Packers rally a comeback that fell just short thanks to a late-game interception.

Love finished the game completing 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 180 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while adding three carries for 21 rushing yards through the ground.

LaFleur and the Packers understand Love’s development as a franchise quarterback is a work-in-progress but they’ve seen nothing that makes them feel as though he isn’t capable of reaching those heights.

“It all works in unison and, so, the better everybody is around him, the better he’s going to look,” LaFleur stated in his postgame comments. He added that he feels he himself can certainly help put Love in a better position to succeed moving forward when calling plays.

“…as the play-caller you put a lot of onus on yourself when things aren’t going well. We’ll continue to do that, but we’ve got to find a way to generate more points…”

Love, LaFleur, and the Packers will have an opportunity to right the ship in Week 8 when they host the Minnesota Vikings.
