Kirian Rodríguez and Benito Ramírez scored to guide Las Palmas to a 2-1 La Liga victory over Atlético Madrid, handing Diego Simeone’s side their first defeat in 10 games in all competitions.
Las Palmas climbed one spot into ninth in the table on 17 points after their fourth victory in five league games. Atlético, who had won their previous six league games, are third with 25 points, three points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Las Palmas captain, Rodríguez, had the Estadio Gran Canaria fans roaring with his 51st-minute goal from just outside the box after an exquisite dummy by Javi Muñoz. Ramírez doubled their lead in the 75th minute after the home side pressured Atlético to give up the ball in their own half.
Álvaro Morata pulled one back to give the visitors a lifeline in the 83rd minute after Rodrigo Riquelme sent in a long cross that the striker fired home from close range, but Las Palmas held on.
In France, Paris Saint-Germain took over the provisional top spot in Ligue 1 with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Montpellier thanks to goals from Lee Kang-in, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Vitinha.
The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes through Lee who fired into the top corner following a low cross from Achraf Hakimi that Kylian Mbappé dummied for the South Korea international. The visitors tried to find an equaliser but instead PSG’s exciting 17-year-old prospect Zaïre-Emery thundered the ball home after Ousmane Dembélé’s backheel in the 58th minute.
Hakimi was on hand once more eight minutes later to cross for substitute Vitinha to slam the ball into the corner. Luis Enrique’s PSG side had the ball in the net again in added time but the effort was disallowed for offside.

PSG lead the table on 24 points, two ahead of Nice who host Stade Rennes on Sunday. Montpellier are 11th with 11 points.
