In the game, Akers was carted back to the locker room and suspected that he could end the season, even though the severity of the injury is not known yet.

He was pulled out of Sunday’s game by an ankle injury, even then before the injury he carried eight times for 25 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards.

Seemingly Akers just started to occupy a larger role in the Vikings’ backfield, and it appears that his season might be over.

The injury occurred after he caught a pass from quarterback Joshua Dobbs behind the line of scrimmage and tried to plant his left leg into the ground.

After the game, coach O’Connell officially announced that the team feared Akers had suffered a torn Achilles, and Minnesota will confirm after the diagnosis on Monday.

This is not the first time, he missed the entire 2021 season after tearing his right Achilles during Training Camp and this injury is to the other Achilles, as per report.

The Vikings will rely on Alexander Mattison, who had 93 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches against the Falcons but is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry this season

Akers career stats highlights, he rushed for 1,483 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has caught 29 receptions for 261 yards and a touchdown.
